Alteration of claw dimensions in dairy cows affected with laminitis related sole lesions

چکیده

This study was conducted among 18 lactating crossbred cows that had clinical lameness associated with painful sole lesions. Claw dimensions were recorded using standard techniques from affected claws in selected animals before functional hoof trimming and compared values. A significant (p < 0.01) increase the toe height claw diagonal of observed when to Toe angle heel significantly lower No changes could be recognised length claws. Functional revealed laminitis related lesions like ulcers white line which caused animals.

SYMPOSIUM: ENVIRONMENTAL RISK FACTORS FOR LAMINITIS Environmental Influences On Claw Horn Lesions Associated With Laminitis And Sub-acute Ruminal Acidosis (SARA) In Dairy Cows

A dairy cow’s environment may influence the onset of laminitis and associated claw horn lesions by exacerbating changes in the hoof triggered by events at parturition, onset of subacute ruminal acidosis, or claw horn growth and wear and ground reaction forces on different walking surfaces. Environmental risk factors for laminitis and associated claw horn lesions include feed bunk space and desi...

Pathogenesis of Sole Lesions Attributed to Laminitis in Cattle

Introduction In cattle, lesions in the sole usually attributed to laminitis include haemorrhages in the horn, double soles, ulcers in the sole and toe, haemorrhage and separation of the white line, as well as deformation of the whole surface (“dropped sole”) (Ossent and others, 1997). Other authors used the term claw horn disruption (CHD) (Clarkson and others, 1996; Hoblet and Weiss, 2001). Usu...

Causes, risk factors, and prevention of laminitis and related claw lesions.

Introduction Laminitis is an inflammation of the laminar corium of the hoof wall. In general, the term laminitis is used to describe a systemic disease affecting not only the hooves, but also the general condition of the animal. Researchers believe the inflammation is primarily associated with a dysfunction of the digital vasculatory system that results in hypoxia and malnutrition of the sensit...

Evaluation of treatments for claw horn lesions in dairy cows in a randomized controlled trial.

Lameness is one of the most significant endemic disease problems facing the dairy industry. Claw horn lesions (principally sole hemorrhage, sole ulcer, and white line disease) are some of the most prevalent conditions. Despite the fact that thousands of animals are treated for these conditions every year, experimental evidence is limited on the most effective treatment protocols. A randomized, ...

Recovery of chronically lame dairy cows following treatment for claw horn lesions: a randomised controlled trial.

A positively controlled, randomised controlled trial (RCT) was undertaken to test recovery of cows with claw horn lesions resulting in lameness of greater than two weeks duration. Cows on seven commercial farms were mobility scored fortnightly and selected by lameness severity and chronicity. Study cows all received a therapeutic trim then random allocation of: no further treatment (trim only (...
